Hi,
My name is Bud Richey. I serve as Associate Vice President for College Relations at Rhodes College. One of my primary duties in this position is serving as the College’s Alumni Director. I was appointed to this position in May 2003.
Prior to receiving the appointment at Rhodes, I served as a student affairs dean at various state universities with the longest term being at LSU. Before coming to Rhodes, the smallest campus where I had worked had 20,000 students. Everywhere I had been I tried to make the campuses “smaller” to give the students a sense of place.
Rhodes College is a special place. Alumni of the College demonstrate extraordinary loyalty and do so much to help the institution advance and to help fellow members of the community. Parents, too, are a huge resource and members of the Alumni Relations staff are privileged to work with them as well. I love my job.
My wife, Mel, also serves on the College staff. She was Dean of Students for several years and it is always a treat seeing alumni from the ’90’s at various events who will send her their greetings. The two of us have an eight year old son, John Price. I was previously married and have three older children, Allen, who lives in Washington, DC, and Megan and Amanda who live in Baton Rouge.
Like most Louisiana men with French ancestry, I like to cook. In recognizing that this internet thing may be here to stay, I opened a Facebook account.
