Major: International Studies

Minor: Russian Studies

Hometown: Aledo, TX

So I have no idea how to begin a biography.

Do you begin with a description of your birth?

I was 9 pounds 11 ounces at birth.

Do you talk about infancy?

At 12 months, I weighed 35 pounds.

Do you give a brief description of yourself?

When I was very young, I was considered abnormally large.
I don’t know.
So why don’t we get down to business?
So I’m an International Studies major and a Russian minor from a town in Texas that is smaller than Rhodes. So I guess that “abnormal” streak is still running pretty strong. I’m particularly interested in post-Soviet successor states, because they’re technically younger than I am and are on the cutting edge of developmental politics (my main fascination). I’m interested in the consolidation of society into a functioning state identity, the development of a sustainable econonmic system, the centralization of politics, everything! But I hope I didn’t bore you just now if that stuff isn’t your thing…

I run Cross Country and Track for Rhodes as well. I was far from amazing in high school and had a poor training background, but I wanted to give running in college a try. Just two years later, I’ve seen my times drop dramatically, my placement on the team skyrocket, and I’m in the best shape of my life. The team (men and women) are among my closest friends, and I look forward to competing at every meet. It really has become an integral part of my life here at Rhodes.

Random Info Go-Time: I love trees and beautiful architecture (Rhodes, anyone?). I prefer toilet paper over the top of the roll. I love cold weather (maybe that’s why I study Russian…). I prefer Track workouts to Cross Country workouts, because it’s easier to keep pace. I’ve been told I dance better than most women (still trying to figure out if that’s a compliment….). I’ve weighed the same since 8th grade. Medieval literature makes me want to contract narcolepsy. I laugh… a lot. Alliteration is positively my primordial preference to partake in, perhaps perpetually. And I think that le parkour is so hardcore (that is random, but so true).

Thanks for looking at Rhodes, and maybe my writings will help you gain a glimpse of life here!
