Green Rhodes Weekly Eco Tip: Turning off Lights
We’ve all heard that turning off the lights when you’re not using them saves energy, but what counts as “when you’re not using them”? According the the US Department of Energy, incandescent bulbs should be turned off whenever you’re not using them; that means that even if you’re just quickly running to the bathroom, turning off the light will save energy. For fluorescent blubs, you should turn off the lights if you won’t be using them for anytime longer than 5 minutes.
