Hey guys.
First week of official classes started this past Monday. My classes (basically all Spanish literature ones <3<3<3<3) are quite enthralling. One thing I absolutely love about the schedule here is that I don´t have classes on Friday. That, combined with a Monday holiday, yields a four day weekend. I felt the need to take advantage. Consequently, I´m in Barcelona right now.
It´s a beautiful city. I´ve seen the Mediterranean, been to numerous museums, gawked at all sorts of Gaudi creations (new favorite architect), and been gawked at by men of all ages.
What, you say? Let me explain. I´ve found that many Spanish men are very free with their compliments. A little boy who couldn´t have been more than six years old daringly sidled up to me with a “¿Hola, que tal, guapa?” Such bold advances by such a leeeeetle chap ceased to surprise me when another gentleman (who could not have been younger than 60 years old) made this teeth sucking sound at me that my Spanish friends informed me signified interest. There was also something disturbing about the way he was waggling his bushy eyebrows.
More fun stories later. Will update with pictures when I get back to Madrid.
