Sophomore year is quickly gaining momentum…one might say, “Zooming along”.
Since my last post, I have wrapped up Midtown Service Day, had homework assignments for my classes, and have gotten into the general swing of things.
First, Midtown Service Day was a big hit. I’m estimating about 100-110 people participated. The food was great (thanks Aramark!) and the participants seemed to have a great time. I actually got an email this morning from one of our off-campus contacts, the Animal Protection Association. They sent me pictures of the service group from last Saturday:
Music has somewhat taken over my life….Since I am a Music major, I guess this would make sense. Anyway…I have a practice requirement for both voice and piano (a combined 10 hours), I am in 3 ensembles, 2/3 of my classes are in the Music department….it’s crazy! Speaking of Music, my friend Nicole and I went to Idlewild Presbyterian Church yesterday afternoon to see “Bach at Idlewild” conducted by Loebel (from Memphis Symphony Orchestra) and featuring soloists from around the community (including our very own Mona Kreitner!). For a community production, put on my mostly non-professional musicians, the concert was exceptional.
Classes are going great…I don’t want to say they are easy. If I do that, they will suddenly explode into graduate-level coursework that involves some sort of sacrifice of life to get through… So, my classes aren’t “easy”…rather, they are “moving at a reasonable pace”. The homework has been managable and the reading has been interesting and light. However, looking at the syllabus for Dr. Watkins’ class, the “light reading” part is about to change.
Well, I think that’s enough for now…Off to practice before class.
