It begins again!

Move in is over…

Orientation is complete…

The new academic year officially started this morning…at 10 AM for me.

My first class is in the dungeon of Clough Hall with Dr. Panter: Educational Psychology. Each class I take in the Education department makes me want to drive towards that career path even more. I won’t lie…the class sounds easy. Nonetheless, Dr. Panter looks fun and she seems really passionate about what shes doing.

Next comes Music Theory…as always, it’s a ball of fun. For all you Music majors/minors you will understand when I yell with excitement…”NO MORE MCGAMUT!!”. Instead, we are doing more transcription skills and keyboarding stuff…awesome.

Finally, I have another class with Dr. Watkins. If you know me at all, you know that his class last year was the bane of my existence. That class drove me to almost change my major and very nearly transfer out of Rhodes. I got through, however, and now I’m with Dr. Watkins again for Latin American Music. This looks like it is going to be my hardest course this semester…if I’ve learned anything from Watkins before, it’s that his classes are not easy and I MUST take them seriously, even though the class is 100-level. I will survive???

The SACK fair is tomorrow, which reminds me that I have so many other commitments this year. Will I get out of this semester in one piece? I’m a Bonner Scholar, Kinney Coordinator, Blogger, Resident Assistant, and committed musician in Orchestra, Singers, and private Voice and Piano. Are there enough hours in the day? Will I have enough time to do all the programs, practice both piano, voice, orchestral music, and keep up with all my academic coursework? Can I still be a committed volunteer? Ahhhhhh!!!

Hopefully…I can wade through all of my committments and focus on the things that really matter the most to me…music, education, and public service. Luckily, these are where my classes are focused this semester, so I should, hopefully, be able to keep on track.

Wish me luck as I get knee deep in everything!
